Wagelasih: Walidono Gerakan Lingkungan Bersih Sebagai Upaya Peningkatan Kepedulian Lingkungan Oleh Mahasiswa KKN UNEJ Di Desa Walidono Kecamatan Prajekan Kabupaten Bondowoso

Abstract

Walidono Village faces serious problems in waste management, which negatively impact the environment and public health. The lack of waste management facilities, such as temporary disposal sites (TPS) and garbage trucks, has led residents to dispose of waste irresponsibly, such as in rivers, by burning it, or burying it around their homes, causing environmental issues. The Community Service Program (KKN) UMD UNEJ Group 111 launched the program “Wagelasih: Walidono Movement for a Clean Environment,” aimed at raising public awareness about waste management through various activities, including socialization of organic and inorganic waste sorting, handwashing campaigns, crafting activities using inorganic waste, inter-hamlet cleanliness competitions, and maggot farming education. The waste awareness socialization was conducted in elementary schools in Walidono Village to instill environmental awareness from an early age, while crafting activities encouraged students to creatively utilize inorganic waste. The inter-hamlet cleanliness competition aimed to motivate residents to maintain environmental cleanliness. The maggot farming education was used to process organic waste more productively and create new economic opportunities for the community. This program aims to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in enhancing awareness of land-based environmental sustainability. The goal is the realization of a clean, green, and integrated Walidono Village, where a sustainable connection between waste management, a clean environment, and economic value is achieved.
